The Liverpool hitman has been linked to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Janusz Michallik has admitted to ESPN that he hopes to see out-of-favour Liverpool striker Mario Balotelli join Wolverhampton Wanderers.
In one of the stranger rumours of this summer’s transfer window, the 25-year-old has been linked with Wolves (via Football Italia) after Jose Mourinho – who managed Balotelli at Inter – advised his former player to drop down into the Championship for the sake of his career.
With that being said, Wolves boss Walter Zenga poured cold water on a shock move for his fellow Italian this week, but Michallik, who once played alongside Zenga at New England Revolution, hopes to see his former team-mate bring the controversial Liverpool forward to Molineux this month.
He told ESPN: “I played with Walter Zenga and there’s a person with a great personality. Perhaps he could understand Balotelli on and off the pitch so I’m quietly hoping this [the rumour] is true.”
Balotelli’s career seems badly in need of a jump-start. His Liverpool spell seems over after a torrid two-year spell at Anfield – one of which he spent on loan at AC Milan, netting one Serie A goal in 20 appearances which seems to have deterred the Rossoneri from re-signing him on a permanent basis.
Liverpool boast a multitude of strikers in the form of Divock Origi, Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings and Roberto Firmino, while Sadio Mane may be given chances through the middle too.
There is very little room for Balotelli, but offloading him with 10 days to go might be tricky.
