Aston Villa, Chelsea, Newcastle United, Liverpool and Manchester United players feature in Craig Burley’s Premier League Midseason Worst XI.
Former Chelsea and Celtic midfielder Craig Burley has named his Premier League Midseason Worst XI on ESPN.
The former Scotland international has included as many as five Chelsea players in the team.
The London outfit, who won the Premier League title last season, are just three points above the relegation zone at the moment.
Burley has named Chelsea right-back Branislav Ivanovic, midfield trio Cesc Fabregas, Nemanja Matic and Eden Hazard, and striker Diego Costa in the team.
While the inclusion of Matic is a bit harsh, Ivanovic, Hazard, Fabregas and Costa have all been terribly disappointing so far this season.
Aston Villa goalkeeper Brad Guzan also finds himself in Burley’s team, and so does Newcastle United central defender Fabricio Coloccini.
Liverpool centre-back Dejan Lovren and Villa left-back Joleon Wescott complete the back-four. Manchester United duo Memphis Depay and Wayne Rooney complete the team.
Below is Burley’s Premier League Midseason Worst XI team in a 4-4-2 formation:
Brad Guzan (Villa)
Branislav Ivanovic (Chelsea) – Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle) – Dejan Lovren (Liverpool) – Joleon Wescott (Aston Villa)
Memphis Depay (Manchester United) – Cesc Fabregas (Chelsea) – Nemanja Matic (Chelsea) – Eden Hazard (Chelsea)
Diego Costa (Chelsea) – Wayne Rooney (Manchester United)
