Former Newcastle United and West Ham United goalkeeper Shaka Hislop has questioned Tottenham Hotspur’s mental toughness on ESPN.

The former Trinidad and Tobago international asked the question following Tottenham’s failure to win against Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon.

Spurs played out a goalless draw with Bournemouth away from home at the Vitality Stadium in the Premier League.

Last weekend, the North London outfit dropped two points against West Bromwich Albion away from home at The Hawthorns.

On Tuesday evening, Tottenham drew goalless with Bundesliga outfit Bayer Leverkusen in Germany in Champions League Group E.

Former Newcastle and West Ham goalkeeper Hislop has suggested that Spurs may not be too tough psychologically.

The former Reading and Portsmouth player has pointed out the problems Tottenham suffered towards the end of last season.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side were in the Premier League title race until the final weeks of the 2015-16 campaign.

“If you include the draw with West Brom last week, that’s two opportunities now that Spurs have missed, where had they won, they will go top of the table,” Hislop told ESPN.

“When you think back to last season and their capitulation to the end of last season, you just wonder if psychologically how tough is this Spurs team.”

Tottenham’s recent results and performances have been disappointing, but on the positive, it is quite early in the season.

Spurs are very much in the Premier League title race and can still progress to the last 16 of the Champions League.
