Ademola Lookman says he received a host of messages from former Everton teammates and staff after scoring Leicester City’s winner against Liverpool, via quotes by BBC Sport.

The winger hit the only goal of the game as the Foxes beat the Reds 1-0 on Tuesday. It took Lookman just three-minutes and four touches after Brendan Rodgers introduced him in the 56th-minute to score. His powerful hit past Alisson was also Leicester’s only on-target shot.

Liverpool enjoyed numerous big chances of their own to open the scoring before Lookman broke the deadlock for Leicester. The 24-year-old’s goal was his fifth for the Foxes across all competitions since moving to the King Power Stadium on loan from RB Leipzig this August.

Lookman scores in back-to-back games after Liverpool winner

Lookman had scored his second Premier League goal for Leicester during their 6-3 loss at Manchester City on Sunday. He also opened the Etihad Stadium affair for his eighth start in 12 top-flight appearances so far this season, and 11th from 18 outings in all competitions.

The former England U21 winger returned to the Premier League in a last-ditch season-long loan from RB Leipzig this summer. He spent last term at Fulham, while the Foxes also have an option to buy him, per Sky Sports, too.

Lookman’s five Leicester goals also now matches his RB Leipzig record, having scored five in 24 games over two spells. He hit five in 11 Bundesliga games while on loan from Everton in the second-half of the 2017/18 season.

But the forward failed to score in 13 outings in all competitions after a £22.5m permanent switch in 2019. Lookman left Everton after 48 appearances, scoring four and assisting two.

Leicester hero shares Everton messages after Reds goal

Lookman had plenty of promise while the Leicester loanee plied his trade at Everton, but rarely established a presence. Over his 36 Premier League appearances, the London-born dynamo only started seven and scored just once before leaving for Leipzig.

Lookman scoring Leicester’s winner against Liverpool delighted some Everton players and staff, it seems, though. The Toffees’ long-time kitman, Jimmy Martin, was particularly pleased with the winger’s efforts to beat the Blues’ Stanley Park neighbours.

“Yeah, [I received some messages] definitely,” Lookman said. “Especially from the kitman from Everton! I’m glad today.”
