Espanyol defender Alvaro Gonzalez has made his opinion clear on the future of a player that has been linked with Tottenham Hotspur this week.
The 26-year-old central-defender was of course speaking about the talented young goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

Speaking to Catalan paper Mundo Deportivo the defender had this to say regarding the future of the 21-year-old talent:
“He has a long road ahead. He is an important player for us and hopefully will remain with us.”

Sport reported this week that Tottenham had bid around £1.7 million for the Espanyol player but that the Spanish side are holding out for a fee of £4.2 million for the talented stopper.
However, the Daily Mail reported yesterday that Spurs have not made an approach to sign the player just yet but confirmed manager Mauricio Pochettino is a fan – but that Pochettino has followed him growing up through the ranks at a club where the Spurs boss used to manage and play.
Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris
The Mail also suggested that Espanyol were highly reluctant to sell the player this summer.
His signature would be seen as a potential long-term successor to Frenchman Hugo Lloris.
Lopez is just 21-years-old but has established himself as the number one keeper at Espanyol in recent times. His good form even saw him called up to the Spanish senior squad for a friendly in May.
