A number of Tottenham Hotspur players have signed new contracts.
Tottenham Hotspur attacking midfielder Christian Eriksen has revealed to The Daily Star why he and a number of his teammates have signed new contracts with the club.
Eriksen recently signed a new deal with Spurs, and so did defenders Danny Rose and Kyle Walker, and midfielders Eric Dier and Dele Alli.
The 24-year-old Denmark international attacking midfielder has explained why the players are so keen on staying at White Hart Lane.
The former Ajax star has also backed summer signing Vincent Janssen to step up in the absence of Harry Kane.
England international striker Kane is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after damaging ligaments in his ankle, according to Sky Sports.
This means that Netherlands international striker Janssen, who joined Spurs from AZ in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £18.5 million, will have to play a very important role for the North London outfit.
Eriksen believes the 22-year-old will prove to be an able replacement for Kane.
“As a team we have a really bright future so a lot of players have signed new deals because we want to stay a part of it,” Eriksen told The Daily Star. “There is something special to build on and I think that’s why everybody wants to sign.”
“He has already shown that before,” added Eriksen about Janssen. “Of course it will be difficult to step in for Harry, but if he does what he is good at and does what he did today there will be some good games for him.”
Eriksen has created 10 chances in four Premier League appearances for Tottenham so far this season. In five league matches for Spurs so far this campaign, Janssen has created four chances.
