Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United will take Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

Manchester United are aiming to finish in the top four of the Premier League table this season, while Manchester City are looking to clinch the league title yet again.

Erik ten Hag’s United are sixth in the league table with 44 points from 26 matches. The Red Devils are as many as 11 points behind Aston Villa, who are currently fourth and have played 27 games.

City, who have won the Premier League title for the past three seasons, are second in the table now. Pep Guardiola’s side have picked up 59 points from 26 games, four fewer than leaders Liverpool, who have played 27 games.

Marcus Rashford tipped to star for Manchester United vs Manchester City

The Citizens will head into the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday as favourites, but United manager Ten Hag has said that Marcus Rashford could be massive for the Red Devils and help them win against Guardiola’s team.

Rashford is likely to start for United in the Manchester derby. Ten Hag could deploy the 26-year-old as a central striker, even though he is better off starting wide and then cutting in.

Ten Hag told Sky Sports about Rashford, as transcribed by The Mirror: “What he can take from the past is that he can score a lot of goals. He can score against the biggest opponents in the world and against the best defenders in the world. It’s just about him; if he has his attitude right on Sunday, he is unstoppable.

“It’s about him. Of course, we have to serve him, that’s a part of it, but in all the games against City he had big chances to score goals. He’s also scored plenty of goals against Man City, especially at the Etihad.”

My View: Marcus Rashford has to step up his game

In my opinion, Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has to step up his game against Manchester City in the Manchester derby on Sunday.

I understand that Rashford may not like playing as a central striker. I think that the 26-year-old is best used out wide.

However, wherever Rashford starts, he needs to do well, or at least try to. We know that he has a lot of quality. He needs to show that against City, who have some world-class players and will have a home advantage for the Manchester derby.
