Ruben Amorim may soon be facing a familiar opponent in the Premier League, one year after stepping into his current role at Manchester United.

The 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest over the weekend came exactly one year after Amorim was hired as head coach.

Omar Berrada had been a driving force behind Amorim’s appointment, following the club’s decision to part ways with Erik ten Hag.

Ineos have remained supportive of their manager despite some challenges during his first year in charge.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, took over at Bayer Leverkusen following his exit from Old Trafford but was let go after only three matches in charge this season.

Ineos are still backing their initial decision to appoint Ruben Amorim as Manchester United boss and have publicly come out on several occasions to confirm their support for him. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sir Dave Brailsford both believe he is the right man for the job and they’re sticking by him through thick and thin so far.

Erik ten Hag linked with Wolves job

Wolves have decided to part ways with Vitor Pereira after a winless start to the season, leaving a vacancy near the foot of the Premier League table.

The Mirror reports that Ten Hag is one of several candidates being considered for the role, along with another former United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Solskjaer was also let go earlier this season by Besiktas following a defeat to Lausanne, who are owned by Ineos.

Both managers remain out of work, but there could be interest from other clubs soon. Wolves and Newcastle are already in need of new appointments this season.

Ten Hag or Solskjaer could be back in the dugout when Amorim visits Molineux

United are four games unbeaten, and Ruben Amorim will be looking to keep that momentum going as they try to climb up the Premier League table.

They’re set to visit Wolves in early December, by which time the club is expected to have a new manager in place.

If it turns out to be one of Amorim’s predecessors, it’ll add another layer of intrigue. Ten Hag has already come up against Amorim twice before during their respective stints at Ajax and Sporting Lisbon, both times coming out on top. United fans will hope things look different this time around.
