Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag urged his side to convert their chances after their victory over Wigan in the FA Cup.
The Red Devils beat Wigan 2-0 on Monday evening to advance to the FA Cup’s fourth round after a tough away game at the DW Stadium.
Despite managing a total of 14 shots on target throughout the 90 minutes with Alejandro Garnacho hitting the woodwork in the first half, Manchester United could only put the game to bed late in the second half.
Diogo Dalot’s curler fired the visitors into the lead inside the opening 20 minutes before Bruno Fernandes dipsatched a 74th-minute penalty to secure the win.

Their subpar conversion rate was highlighted by Ten Hag after the game who believes his side should be finding the back of the net more often, but was pleased with the chances created.
“It’s all about the win but first half, the way we played, the performance, how we worked the ball, how we made our runs, the investment in the final third, we created a lot of chances and that was pleasing to see,” Ten Hag said via The Independent after the game.
“I think we should have scored more but the good thing is we created the chances. We have so many injuries and illnesses but still we put out a strong side. We had a good team, so we were confident before, we must win this game.
“You never underestimate any opponent, definitely not this side, you know they will fight for their life because it’s the game of their life, we took the game very good,” he added.
Concerns before facing Tottenham
Manchester United’s forwards haven’t been scoring enough in the Premier League this season with only 11 goals shared between Alejandro Garnacho, Bruno Fernandes, Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and summer-signing Rasmus Højlund.
They are currently eighth in the league table with 31 points after 20 games and are in danger of losing more ground to the top four when they host fifth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Sunday.
