Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has told Tuesday’s press conference – as per the Manchester Evening News – that Tottenham boss Antonio Conte is “fabulous” and you can see his “signature” in the current Spurs side.

The two managers do battle for the first time since the Dutch gaffer took over at Old Trafford. In what will be a hotly-contested match, Spurs come into the game in excellent form. Winning their last two, they sit in a lofty third place.

They have secured 23 points from 10 games, level on points with Manchester City and four behind Arsenal. Meanwhile, ten Hag’s side are recovering after a poor start and have 16 points from nine – boasting a game in hand over Spurs.

In what promises to be a fascinating encounter at Old Trafford on Wednesday night, ten Hag was asked for his verdict on Conte. He raved about the Tottenham gaffer, branding him “fabulous” and his ability to impose his ideas on a side.

“He’s a fabulous manager, winning titles, trophies in the Premier League, Italy and you can really see his signature in the match from his team. That’s a big compliment I think,” Ten Hag said, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News.

You would suggest that Spurs are probably slight favourites given their position in the table, and their recent form. United, meanwhile, have won just one of their last three Premier League games. They drew with Newcastle on Sunday.

While they have recovered from a poor start to the campaign, there are still inconsistencies. Scraping through in Europa and a 6-3 loss to Manchester United is certainly proof of that. But home advantage might just help United.

It might be one of those games where the first goal will dictate the game. Given the form of Harry Kane, one might suggest that it is Spurs who are favourites to win the match come Wednesday night.
