The Danish defender is back in action after a spell out injured.
Celtic’s Erik Sviatchenko
Celtic rubberstamped their position as Scottish Premiership favourites with an impressive 4-1 win against last season’s title rivals Aberdeen at Parkhead.
The result was fair given the performance from Celtic – who were excellent throughout what turned into a romp.
Erik Sviatchenko celebrates after scoring the first goal for Celtic
The game also saw the domestic return from injury of Danish defender Erik Sviatchenko. He has been out throughout August with a knee problem but returned to the action against Hapoel Beer Sheva in the Champions League this week – coming on as a sub.
This was his first start since coming back from injury and he was clearly pleased with the win.
He sent this tweet after the game, which also included a message to team-mate Leigh Griffiths:
Griffiths scored a fantastic goal to get the party started in Glasgow. It was his seventh goal of the season already, in just nine games, and he is already well on course to match the 40 goals he managed for Celtic last season.
If he can keep up his form, and Celtic can keep the likes of Sviatchenko fit, then Celtic will surely be on their way to another title triumph.
