Celtic extended their lead at the top of the Scottish Premiership following a narrow win at Pittodrie.
Celtic’s Erik Sviatchenko
Erik Sviatchenko has claimed that Celtic proved during their clash with Aberdeen that they are capable of adopting a much more physical strategy, BBC Sport reports.
The Hoops moved nine points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a Tom Rogic volley in the first-half handed them a 1-0 win over the Dons at Pittodrie.

And while the scoreline was decided by a moment of brilliance from the Australian, Sviatchenko has suggested that Celtic’s ability to change approach proved to be the difference between the two teams.
“It was a tough game. Aberdeen did all they could to beat us and tried to bully us, but I think we showed that we can also play a physical game,” he said, as reported by BBC Sport.

“Some games we can play our game and score a lot of goals, but it is also really important to win these type of 1-0 games and keep a clean sheet.”
What will be particularly encouraging to Brendan Rodgers is the fact that the Bhoys were able to dig deep to hold on, even when Aberdeen threw everything at them at the end of the game.

The fact that they also have an ability to fight and scrap, rather than just win games in emphatic fashion, will give the Northern Irishman a huge amount of confidence that, even when they are below par, they have a chance of securing a win.
And with a game in hand that could allow them to extend that lead further, it would surely be impossible to find anyone who is willing to bet against Celtic winning their sixth successive title.
