Erik Sviatchenko joined FC Midtjylland on loan from Brendan Rodgers’s Celtic in the January transfer window.

Sviatchenko returned to his former club Midtjylland in Denmark on loan from Celtic in the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old Denmark international central defender, who joined the Hoops from Midtjylland in January 2016 for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £1.5m when Ronny Deila was in charge, has admitted that he is unsure about the future.

Sviatchenko told The Glasgow Evening Times: “It is difficult to give a verdict on what will happen in the summer. Much of that is because it is not down to me.”
“I am positive but I am also realistic and I know that it comes down to what the manager thinks and he is very honest,” added Sviatchenko. “I spoke to him last month.
“Brendan called me to see if we had settled in here and I thought that was a very nice gesture. He was pleased that I was in the team and playing games and we will see what happens now over the next four months.”

Future at Celtic over?
Sviatchenko is a good defender, and the Denmark international was unlucky with injuries during his time at Celtic.
It is hard to see the 26-year-old have a future at the Glasgow giants, given that the Celtic Park have moved on.
The signings of Jack Hendry and Marvin Compper in the January transfer window suggest that Rodgers does not consider Sviatchenko as part of his long-term plans at Celtic.
Celtic will face Old Firm rivals Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Premiership this weekend.
