Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko looks set to be back from a lengthy injury spell.

Sviatchenko suffered a knee ligament injury in August during Celtic’s Champions League qualifier against Rosenborg.
The 26-year-old central defender has been on the books of the Glasgow giants since January 2016 when he joined from Midtjylland for a transfer fee reported by BBC Sport to be worth £1.5 million.
The Denmark international has suggested that he is set to return to action very soon.

“I think we are aiming to get me fully fit for games as soon as possible,” The Glasgow Evening Times quotes Sviatchenko as saying.
“The international break was convenient because it let me get good sessions and then a bit of rest and keep on looking to the next game.
“Those two games are critical. We have put ourselves in a good position but the job isn’t fully done yet and those two games are going to be decisive. I really hope I can play a part in them.
“I played all six games last season [in the Champions League] which was an amazing experience so I hope I can play in those.”

Celtic have a strong squad, but central defence has been an issue for manager Brendan Rodgers.
Sviatchenko is a good centre-back, and his return to action is only going to make the Hoops a stronger team.
The Bhoys can win or at least draw Scottish Premiership matches even without Sviatchenko, but the Dane’s presence will enhance their chances of dropping to the Europa League from the Champions League this season.
