Celtic have a couple of tricky Champions League games in the coming weeks.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Erik Sviatchenko is desperate for Celtic to finish their Champions League campaign on a high by showing the same discipline against Barcelona and Man City as they did against Borussia Monchengladbach in midweek.
The Hoops have a very tough job on their hands to qualify for the latter stages of the competition, with a spot in the Europa League far more realistic at this stage.
With two games to go, Celtic sit bottom of Group C, seven points behind leaders Barcelona and five adrift of the second-placed Premier League giants.
Brendan Rodgers’s side are only two adrift of the Bundesliga outfit, however, and they held Monchengladbach to a 1-1 draw in Germany during the week.
It was a much-improved performance from the Scottish Premiership side, who had lost 2-0 to them at Parkhead two weeks previous, but Sviatchenko is crossing his fingers that Celtic can also show up Barca and City over the next month or so.
They host the Spanish giants on November 23, having already lost 7-0 to them at Camp Nou, before visiting Eastlands on December 6 as the Bhoys – who drew 3-3 with Pep Guardiola’s side in Glasgow – look to spring another surprise for the star-studded Sky Blues.
He told The Telegraph: “City away is going to be difficult because they won against Barcelona, but we showed that every team can be frightened and every team can be challenged when we are at our best, so we will try to do everything that we can.
“I’m just crossing my fingers that we can perform the way we did against Gladbach, because that was a really, really disciplined game.”
