Celtic defender Erik Sviatchenko has congratulated his parent club on Twitter after the Hoops demolished bitter rivals Rangers to win 5-0 at Celtic Park to earn their seventh consecutive Scottish Premiership title.

Odsonne Edouard gave Celtic the lead after great work from Kieran Tierney, before the Frenchman doubled Celtic’s advantage with an excellent finish. James Forrest scored a superb solo effort to make it three.

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is seen during the Scottish Premier League match between Celtic and Rangers at Celtic Park on April 29, 2018 in Glasgow, Scotland.

Tom Rogic continued the scoring after half-time after capitalising on a loose ball to stroke it past Jak Alwnick, and Edouard turned provider for Celtic’s fifth to set up Callum McGregor for his 11th goal of the season.

It sees Rodgers hold aloft his second successive Scottish Premiership trophy in two seasons – Celtic’s seventh in a row – and Sviatchenko congratulated the Hoops as he remains on loan with Danish side FC Midtjylland.

Former Liverpool boss Rodgers, who has been linked with a move back down south to replace Arsene Wenger at Arsenal, is now one match away from a second treble at Celtic with the Hoops set to play Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final.

Sviatchenko’s future with the Hoops remains in doubt after he returned on loan to his former side in January. The 26-year-old powerhouse has a contract at the club until 2020 at Parkhead, and fans want him to rejoin Celtic rather than leave this summer.

Celtic fans reacted to his Tweet, with the majority urging him to “come home”.
