The Athletic have reported today that Erik Lamela wants to leave Tottenham Hotspur.
What’s the story?
It has been reported that Tottenham attacker Lamela wants to join a new club in the summer transfer window.
The Argentina international, who can play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger, has ‘expressed an interest in playing’ his football elsewhere.
U-turn?
It seems that Lamela has made a U-turn over his future.
Fabrizio Romano said on the Here We Go Podcast in March that the 29-year-old was not thinking of leaving Spurs.
The well-known and well-respected journalist said that the former AS Roma star “wants to stay” and “wants to focus on Tottenham”.

Leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer
Lamela has had injury problems during his time at Spurs.
Yes, the Argentine has scored some wonderful goals and has wowed fans on occasions.
But, overall, the Argentine has not been a massive success.
Lamela works hard and does his best whenever he is on the pitch, but the 29-year-old’s injury problems and failure to play week in and week out when he has been fit mean that if Spurs get a good offer for him, then they are likely to accept it.
