Erik Lamela played a starring role as Tottenham Hotspur picked up an important win in their latest Premier League clash.
Erik Lamela took to Twitter following Spurs’ win over Wolves at the weekend to insist that it is now time for Mauricio Pochettino’s side to forget about the victory and switch their attention to their crucial Champions League tie this week.
Tottenham bagged the three points at Molineux after holding off a late fightback from the home side. Lamela had broken the deadlock before Lucas Moura doubled the lead before the break. Harry Kane’s goal after the interval suggested that the points were safe.
But Wolves gave Pochettino’s men a scare as two late penalties created some late drama. However, Spurs would hold onto their lead to continue their remarkable away record in the Premier League this season – they have won six of their seven fixtures on their travels.
Lamela was fantastic in the win at Wolves. The Argentinian really has turned his situation at Spurs around emphatically and is now proving to be a key player for the club.
He took the plaudits from the supporters after he reacted to the win on social media at the weekend. Several fans pointed out how much the perception of the attacking midfielder has changed in recent months with his form proving to be a key reason for Spurs’ success.
And those supporters will be hoping that Lamela can produce the goods again on Tuesday when Spurs face their massive Champions League tie with PSV Eindhoven, which is a game that could potentially dash or revive their hopes of progressing to the knockout stages of the competition.
