Tottenham’s Erik Lamela during training
This week has seen Tottenham Hotspur attacker Erik Lamela linked with a move away from the club in the summer – as they lose patience with his injury turmoil.
Inter Milan have been immediately linked with the player, who has been a long-term target, but AS Monaco are also believed to be keen.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the French Ligue 1 leaders are keen on adding the player to their first-team.
Their interest would not come as a surprise. Lamela put in one of his best performances as a Spurs player against the Ligue 1 side.
The Argentine put in a superb performance against Monaco in December 2015 in a Europa League clash.
Tottenham defeated them 4-1 with Lamela scoring a hat-trick in the group stage triumph, with Tom Carroll scoring the other.
Tottenham’s Vincent Janssen comes on as a substitute to replace Erik Lamela
It was an exceptional performance from the player, who had just started to thrive at Spurs following a difficult first season at the club.
Monaco are unlikely to have forgotten such an impressive display and if they get a chance to secure Lamela this summer they might take that leap.
