Mauricio Pochettino has always been a big fan of Tottenham Hotspur winger Erik Lamela.

Calcio Mercato claim that Inter Milan were interested in buying Lamela at the start of the year, but Spurs have kept hold of the winger.

And Lamela could be on the verge of having his biggest season yet in a Tottenham shirt.

Although competition for places in fierce in Mauricio Pochettino’s side, the Argentine’s impact against Fulham at the weekend showed just what he could do.

Spurs were struggling to get past the challenge of Fulham at Wembley, until Mousa Dembele and Lamela were brought on.

Dembele helped Spurs control the midfield, while Lamela proved to be a hugely bright spark in attack.

The Argentine went on a brilliant dribble to set-up Harry Kane, and his willingness to drive straight at the heart of Fulham’s defence was immediately evident.

Lamela transformed Spurs’ static attack into one which was pulling Fulham’s back four all over the place.

And if he continues to perform to such a high standard then Lamela could develop into an absolutely crucial player for Spurs this term.
