Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Nicolo Zaniolo.

Tottenham Hotspur are keen on a move for Roma star Nicolo Zaniolo, Tuttosport report.

It will be tough to convince Roma to part with the midfielder, who at just 19 is becoming one of their most coveted assets.

The same was once said of winger Erik Lamela.

Tottenham’s best bet to sign Zaniolo may be to send Lamela back in the other direction as part of a player plus cash deal.

Lamela’s 2012/13 season at Roma remains the most prolific season of his career, when he scored 15 goals.

The closest he has come in a Tottenham shirt is the 11 goals he scored in 2014/15.

Injuries have halted his progress, and this season he has been inconsistent, letting a bright start fade.

The time seems right for Tottenham to move on, for their sake and to give Lamela a fresh start.

Lamela was a fan favourite at Roma and would be welcomed back with open arms.

Throwing him into a deal for Zaniolo would be Tottenham’s best way of getting it done, and might be the only way Roma could make a sale acceptable to their fanbase.
