Tottenham Hotspur fans react to Erik Lamela’s comments, suggesting it’s time to go.

Tottenham team manager Mauricio Pochettino whisphers to midfielder Erik Lamela during a press conference prior to a training session at AAMI Park in Melbourne on July 25, 2016.

Erik Lamela has admitted to Tottenham Hotspur’s official website that he was ‘angered’ by Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at West Bromwich Albion.

Jake Livermore struck a stoppage-time winner against his old side on what was a miserable day for Tottenham at The Hawthorns.

By virtue of the fact that West Brom were bottom of the Premier League before kickoff, Spurs were big favourites to leave the West Midlands with another three points to consolidate their hopes of a top-four finish.

But despite dominating, Mauricio Pochettino’s side couldn’t make the most of their chances and ultimately paid a big price.

Lamela, who started ahead of Son Heung-min and Lucas Moura, told the Lilywhites’ website: “I go home angry because I expected to win the game.

“It was a difficult afternoon. I don’t know what to say because we came here to win the game but unfortunately we lost to a goal at the end.

“We tried to put all the effort into winning the game, they just defended all the time and it was so difficult to score a goal because they were so close at the back. We tried many times to score but we knew that if we don’t open the game, at the end it’s more difficult because they believed when the game was ending.”

Lamela, a £30 million signing in 2013 [The Telegraph], was slammed by Tottenham fans for his lack of contribution yesterday, and many of them have responded to his comments by suggesting his five-year stint in North London should come to an end this summer.

Lamela, who has eight goals and 20 assists in 108 Premier League games since joining from Roma, is earning £70,000 per week at Tottenham at the moment [Silly Season].
