Eric Garcia has agreed to sign a new contract with FC Barcelona.
Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have both been told that he’s no longer available after reaching an agreement with Barcelona.
TBR Football previously reported that Chelsea had shown interest in Garcia, and we can now confirm that Spurs also made inquiries earlier in the summer.
Both clubs renewed their interest in recent weeks, given Garcia’s current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2026.
Barcelona reach contract agreement with Eric Garcia despite Chelsea and Tottenham links
Eric Garcia is set to sign a new contract with Barcelona, according to sources speaking to TBR Football chief correspondent Graeme Bailey, having become a key part of Hansi Flick’s plans this season.
The German manager appears to have chosen the Spaniard over Ronald Araujo, who has since been relegated to the bench. Garcia has featured in ten of Barcelona’s 13 matches so far this season, mostly alongside Pau Cubarsi.

Garcia’s expiring contract had drawn plenty of attention from other clubs earlier in the year, but his situation at Camp Nou has changed significantly since then. He’s become a regular starter under Flick and looks set for an extended stay in Catalonia.
Bailey told TBR Football: “At one point in the summer with Garcia’s contract expiring, there was real interest with Chelsea and Spurs both keen. He is a class act and has Premier League experience; he ticks a lot of boxes.”
“However, Garcia has since become a big player under Hansi Flick, and he is not going anywhere. I am told in recent weeks his people have confirmed that a new deal is imminent.”

Kevin Danso is currently the only fit backup, and with Radu Dragusin expected to move on and Luka Vuskovic out on loan, Spurs will likely need to act in January.
TBR Football understands that Garcia was one of the players being considered by Tottenham before his contract renewal put an end to any pursuit. The club will now have to turn its attention elsewhere.
