Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to avoid disaster this afternoon.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Eric Dier has told The Mirror that the dramatic comeback against Ajax is enough reason for there to be some worry over Arsenal today.

Spurs enjoyed a remarkable Wednesday night, as they trailed 3-0 on aggregate to Ajax at half time, meaning they needed three goals to go through.

Lucas Moura’s stunning second half hat-trick – including a 95th minute winner – sent Spurs through, setting up a Champions League final clash with Liverpool in Madrid next month.

Spurs must now turn their attention back to the Premier League, as it’s the other big team on Merseyside facing them today, with Everton making the trip to North London.

Spurs occupy fourth place in the Premier League table, the last Champions League spot. Their form hasn’t been great though, and there’s a chance bitter rivals Arsenal could yet pip them.

Mauricio Pochettino’s men do though hold a three point lead and an eight-goal advantage in goal difference, meaning it would take a couple of surprise results to get Arsenal into the top four as they travel to Burnley.

A point will do for Spurs, but midfielder Dier – who has criticised Tottenham’s recent form – has suggested that the comeback at Ajax just shows that anything is possible in football, and Spurs should still have some worry about Arsenal overtaking them, with the job far from done yet.

“First of all, we were very disappointed with our form in the Premier League over the last three or four weeks,” said Dier. “It has not been good enough and we have been very fortunate that things have gone our way. But we don’t really want to be playing in that way, we want to do everything ourselves and not be relying on others.

“Secondly, after last week, we know that anything is possible in football, so the job isn’t done yet,” he added.
