Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier has praised his teammate Dele Alli for his defensive qualities to The London Evening Standard.

Alli is one of the best young midfielders in the world and is a very attack-minded player.

The 22-year-old, who earns £50,000 per week as salary according to The Daily Star, scored nine goals and provided 10 assists in 34 Premier League starts for Tottenham this past season.

The England international scored 18 goals and provided seven assists in 35 league starts for the North London outfit during the 2017-18 campaign.

Dier, who can operate as defender or as a defensive midfielder, has highlighted his Tottenham and England international teammate Alli’s defensive qualities.

“The part of Dele’s game that gets the least attention is his defending, probably because of all the other great stuff he does,” Dier told The London Evening Standard.

“Dele is actually fantastic defensively, he is very intelligent and reads the game very well.”

Surprise claim

Alli is known mostly for his goals, assists and chances created, but Dier’s comments outline just how good he is in helping out defensively.

The England international still needs to improve and develop, but the 22-year-old certainly has the potential to become one of the best and most complete midfielders in the world.
