The Tottenham Hotspur star finds himself in a position of power, but loses the ball far too often.
It’s been a proud week for Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier. He has captained his nation twice this week as England took on Germany and Brazil.
The Spurs star, playing in a midfield role, has become a key figure in the international set-up and is certainly stepping up to look like the leader he always had the attributes to be.
That said, after the game against Brazil this week, he found himself under severe criticism from some England fans. Whilst his personality is suited to the captaincy role, the Spurs talent has an aspect of his game that grows increasingly frustrating.
He gets dispossessed much too often. On numerous occasions against Brazil, when facing forward, Dier dawdled. He found himself being tackled by the intrepid Brazilian front-men and bailed out y his team-mates – including the impressive Joe Gomez on debut.
It is a bad habit, born from a lack of urgency, that he needs to eradicate from his game if he is to become the star player he genuinely could be for both Tottenham and England.
One day he will make the mistake on an occasion when he is not broken out of jail. Spurs and England fans will hope it is not on their watch, but on the others.
