Tottenham Hotspur ace Eric Dier has told The Mirror that he thinks goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is ‘very underrated’.

Spurs played out a 0-0 draw away at Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, with Mauricio Pochettino’s men not only extending their unbeaten run in the Premier League, but also keeping up their impressive defensive record.

After excelling defensively last season, Spurs have started the new season in the same vein, conceding just four goals in nine Premier League games, keeping five clean sheets in the process.

Whilst Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen’s partnership has been a major factor in Tottenham’s defensive solidity under Pochettino, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris may in fact be the star of the show.

The French international has enjoyed a superb week, first pulling off a miraculous save to deny Javier Hernandez’s close-range effort during Tottenham’s Champions League clash with Bayer Leverkusen, and then tipped Charlie Daniels’ effort onto the woodwork from point-blank range against Bournemouth.

Lloris, 29-year-old, has been one of Tottenham’s most consistent players since joining from Lyon in the summer of 2012, and he earns praise on a regular basis having established himself as one of the few world-class goalkeepers in world football.

Now, team-mate Eric Dier has told The Mirror that, despite Lloris’ status as one of the best goalkeepers around, he’s actually still ‘very underrated’.

Dier added that he doesn’t think there is a better goalkeeper in the Premier League than Lloris – high praise considering that the likes of Petr Cech, Thibaut Courtois and David De Gea are also starring in the top flight.

“He is very underrated,” Dier insisted. “Maybe it is because he is a very low key guy. I don’t think there is a better keeper in the league,” he added.
