Speaking on the Highbury Squad YouTube channel, Kevin Campbell has been discussing Aaron Ramsdale and the affinity he already has towards Arsenal.

Ramsdale is one of the newest members of the Arsenal squad, but when you watch him on the pitch, you’d be forgiven for believing he was a Hale End graduate who’d supported Arsenal his whole life.

Indeed, Ramsdale already has an incredible connection with the fans, and he plays with so much passion on the pitch.

In fact, Campbell says that no player at the club epitomises the idea of playing for the badge quite as much as Ramsdale.

What’s Campbell said about Ramsdale?

The pundit had nothing but good things to say about the goalkeeper.

“Do you remember at the start of this season, we spoke about changing the culture in the dressing room and how important it was to get players who will fight for that badge and connect with the fanbase. Nobody epitomises it quite as much as this guy (Ramsdale). He came under a cloud, let’s be honest, there were many who didn’t want him at the club because he’d been relegated twice. We heard all that. What he’s done, he’s come in and taken that number one spot,” Campbell said.

Captain candidate

After listening to Campbell’s points on Ramsdale, you have to consider the goalkeeper as a candidate to be Arsenal’s captain.

Yes, the stopper has only been at the club for a short period of time, but he’s already showcasing his leadership abilities and his passion for the club.

The Gunners still don’t have a permanent skipper in place after Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was stripped of the role, and Mikel Arteta could do worse than bestowing that honour upon Ramsdale.
