Celtic defender Eoghan O’Connell is poised to join Bury on a free transfer, sources close to the club have told HITC.
O’Connell is out of contract at Celtic this month and he has decided to leave Parkhead in search of regular first-team football.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international played seven games for Celtic at the start of last season, including a Champions League group game against Barcelona before being loaned out to Walsall last January.

O’Connell made 17 appearances during his loan stint at Walsall, scoring one goal and his performances for the Saddlers brought him to the attention of several clubs in England.
However, ambitious Bury, who have been very busy already in this summer’s transfer window, have moved very quickly to secure the signature of the talented central defender.
The news will come as a blow to Celtic as O’Connell had come through the ranks at the club and was tipped for a bright future at Parkhead.
Bury boss Lee Clark is aiming to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion from League One next season and he sees O’Connell as a vital addition to his plans.
