Celtic-owned defender Eoghan O’Connell has told The Express & Star that he is enjoying his loan spell at Walsall.

O’Connell joined League One outfit Walsall in England from Scottish Premiership giants Celtic on loan in the January transfer window.

The 21-year-old centre-back has stated that he is enjoying playing for the Saddlers.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, though, has suggested that he is still getting used to the rigorous schedule of League One.

“I’m really enjoying it here and I settled in really quickly,” O’Connell told The Express & Star.

“It’s been good to have a run of games and there have been a couple of Tuesday night ones in there as well,” added O’Connell.

“My body is having to get used to a Saturday-Tuesday schedule but it’s just great to be playing games because that’s what I’m here to do.”

O’Connell seems to be enjoying himself at Walsall, and he would hope to make progress and develop himself in the coming weeks and months at the Banks’s Stadium.

Walsall are 12th in the League One table at the moment with 46 points from 34 matches.

Jon Whitney’s side are seven points behind Southend United, who are currently sixth in the standings and occupy the final playoff spot.

Meanwhile, Celtic are at the top of the Scottish Premiership table at the moment with 76 points from 26 matches.

Brendan Rodgers’s side are 24 points clear of second-placed Aberdeen and are running away with the league title.
