Jose Enrique has reacted on Instagram after footage emerged of senior Liverpool stars Fabinho, Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk geeing up the crowd to celebrate Takumi Minamino holding the Carabao Cup.
Liverpool secured the Carabao Cup after a penalty-shootout win over Chelsea. Caoimhin Kelleher proved to be the hero, scoring his own spot kick before Kepa Arrizabalaga blazed his effort over the bar at Wembley.
A brilliant win for Liverpool, and it might be one of four – with the Reds still going strong in the Premier League, FA Cup and Champions League. Minamino, meanwhile, was left on the bench as an unused substitute.
That is despite Minamino playing a crucial role in getting Liverpool to the final, scoring four goals in the previous five Carabao Cup matches. Footage emerged of Minamino after the match, celebrating with the trophy.
It also sees Konstantinos Tsimikas hand him the silverware, and senior trio Henderson, Fabinho and van Dijk gee up the Liverpool fans to make some noise before Minamino holds it aloft. Enrique was delighted to see it unfold.
Enrique on Minamino: Liverpool star should feel hard done by
Having played such an important role in getting the Reds to Wembley, Minamino might have been hoping for at least a bit of game time in the final. He got two against Norwich, and one against Preston and Leicester.
Caoimhin Kelleher was given game time with Jurgen Klopp recognising he has been crucial – picking him over Alisson. So, Minamino should feel a bit gutted not to have played. The summer will be an interesting one, for him.
