There’s no doubt what the biggest transfer Tottenham Hotspur pulled off this past summer was.

Spurs secured a fairytale return for Gareth Bale, who joined the North Londoners on a season-long loan from Real Madrid after seven years in the Spanish capital.

Bale established himself as one of the world’s finest players during his first stint at Tottenham but, since returning, things haven’t gone exactly to plan.

In fact, you could argue that the player who joined at the same time as the Welshman, Sergio Reguilon, is looking a much better addition.

The Spain left-back also signed for Jose Mourinho’s side from Real, on the same day as Bale.

And he’s been an absolute revelation, rendering the likes of Ben Davies as a squad player for the most part, while Ryan Sessegnon was loaned out to German side Hoffenheim.

Reguilon has been a fine addition following his £27 million move, but the Spanish giants have a buy-back clause inserted in his deal, which adds a little bit of anxiety from a Tottenham fans’ perspective.

But Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed on his Here We Go podcast that Reguilon is simply loving life in North London and has no plans whatsoever to return to Madrid.

He said: “The player is totally focused on Tottenham. I was hearing he was spending amazing time with the city in London, with team-mates, with Jose Mourinho, the board at Tottenham, with Daniel Levy. He’s so happy with the atmosphere. I don’t feel Reguilon is ready to leave after one year. At this moment he is not considering to leave. I’d love to say to Tottenham fans: don’t worry – enjoy the player because he is so happy.”
