Chris Sutton has written in The Daily Record that he does not see Ange Postecoglou leaving Celtic for Brighton and Hove Albion, who are looking for a new manager following Graham Potter’s move to Chelsea.
The former Celtic striker believes that the Hoops are miles ahead of Brighton, and that the Australian boss would not be tempted to make the switch to the Seagulls right now.
The Englishman believes that leaving Celtic for Brighton would be a step-down for Postecoglou.
According to journalist Miguel Delaney in his Reading the Game column in The Independent (12:04pm, September 9, 2022), Brighton have Postecoglou on their radar along with Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper.
Potter left Brighton for Chelsea this week following the Blues’ decision to part company with Thomas Tuchel.
Chris Sutton on Ange Postecoglou potentially leaving Celtic for Brighton and Hove Albion
Sutton wrote: “If you back yourself, you are going to be selective and not jump at the first opportunity that comes your way.

“The Premier League is regarded by many as the best league in the world. But Celtic are far bigger than the majority of teams who operate within England’s top flight and that is a fact.
“Like I’ve said, no disrespect to Brighton, but Celtic are miles ahead of them. I can’t see a coach of Postecoglou’s quality stepping down the ladder to go to England’s South Coast.”
Could a move happen?
We do not think that Ange Postecoglou will leave Celtic for Brighton and Hove Albion right now.
Celtic won the Scottish Premiership title last season and could clinch it again this campaign.
The Hoops are also playing in the UEFA Champions League this season, and manager Ange Postecoglou is hugely popular among the Celtic Park faithful.
However, the Premier League is the richest and most attractive domestic league in the world.
We have seen Brendan Rodgers leave Celtic for Leicester City in the middle of a season.
Celtic fans will hope that history does not repeat itself.
