Isherwood reportedly underwent a trial at Rangers during May.

Defender Thomas Isherwood has put pen to paper on a two-year deal with English club Bradford City, after seemingly failing to earn a contract at Rangers following a recent trial.

The Daily Record claim the 20-year-old Sweden youth international went on trial at Auchenhowie last month, training with the club for a week during May.

However, he was not given a permanent contract by the Gers and now English League One side Bradford have completed a move for the defender which sees him sign until the summer of 2020 from German giants Bayern Munich.

Isherwood was given a chance to shine by Rangers after Isherwood was told that his contract at Bayern would not be renewed, leaving the 6ft 4in powerhouse to become a free agent this summer.

The Gers are in the market for a new centre-back, with Brighton’s Connor Goldson reportedly expected to sign sooner rather than later after teammate Anthony Knockaert dropped a hint that the powerful defender would be leaving Brighton.

Rangers are also in talks with Croatian youngster Nikola Katic, and have been linked with a move for veteran Northern Ireland international Gareth McAuley, who played for West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League last season.

However, they will not be signing Isherwood, who is now preparing to help Bradford in their fight to achieve promotion from the third tier of English football.
