Steven Gerrard’s Rangers and Nottingham Forest will reportedly miss out on the signing of Morgan Fox, who is leaving Sheffield Wednesday.

Rangers are interested in signing the left-back on a free transfer this summer, according to a report in TEAMtalk in May.

The same report credited West Bromwich Albion among other clubs with interest in the 26-year-old left-back.

However, TEAMtalk has claimed this morning that Stoke City are leading the race for the Welshman.

It has been claimed that Fox has decided against signing a new contract with Wednesday, and that the Potters are on course to securing his services on a free.

Nottingham Forest, Middlesbrough, Coventry City and Barnsley also want the former Charlton Athletic man, but Stoke are in pole position for the defender’s signature, according to the report.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Fox made 24 starts and three substitute appearances in the Championship for Wednesday this season, scoring two goals and providing one assist in the process.

The left-back also made two appearances in the EFL Cup and scored one goal in three FA Cup ties for the Owls this campaign, according to WhoScored.
