Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope has told the Independent that Liverpool defender Joe Gomez crumpled in a heap with nobody around him in England training.
Liverpool centre-back Gomez has suffered a knee issue, with fears that he could miss the rest of the season now rising.
And Pope’s comments do little to ease worries about Gomez’s injury.
“Joe made a pass or movement with nobody around him and ended up on the floor and was obviously in a great deal of pain,” the commanding goalkeeper said.
“To see Joe go through something like that and see how much pain he was in wasn’t easy for me or any of the lads.”
If Gomez is to miss the rest of the season with Liverpool it could be a major blow.

Liverpool are already without Virgil van Dijk and Fabinho, as their injury issues stack up.
The Reds are now heavily reliant on Joel Matip staying fit, otherwise their only other options are the inexperienced Rhys Williams and Nathaniel Phillips.
Jurgen Klopp’s side’s task of defending their Premier League title has now become much more difficult, with their defence severely weakened.
Liverpool’s next game comes in two weekends’ time, when they take on table toppers Leicester City.
