England take on Serbia on Sunday night in their opening game of the 2024 European Championships in Germany.
Gareth Southgate has a selection headache ahead of the opening game with the fitness of Luke Shaw and John Stones called into question.
The Three Lions head into this tournament as one of the favourites for the competition and they will be hoping they can finally win a major tournament for the first time since 1966.
Stones and Shaw start in defence despite injury concerns
Jordan Pickford – The Everton goalkeeper will be a certainty to start for the Three Lions at this summer tournament.
Kieran Trippier – The Newcastle defender has been deputising at left-back in the absence of any senior options in that area.
John Stones – It had looked touch and go about whether the Englishman would make the squad but he has been spotted in the training squad.
Kyle Walker – The Man City defender has a history of playing at centre-back and he could well be having to fill in again due to the injury problems.
Luke Shaw – The United left-back has struggled hugely with injuries this campaign but Shaw, if fit, has to start for the Three Lions in defence.
Mainoo to be given starting berth for opening game
Declan Rice – The Arsenal midfielder is among a number of players who simply have to start for the Three Lions
Kobbie Mainoo – Mainoo has been one of the shining lights for the Red Devils and netted in the FA Cup final, his place in the team should be a guarantee.
Jude Bellingham – The Real Madrid midfielder is set to play his first game since winning the Champions League for Los Blancos and will be a key component for the Three Lions this summer due to his goalscoring exploits.
Foden set to start at left-wing
Phil Foden – A lot has been said about where the midfielder will best fit in to Southgate’s team but it seems off the left he could be where he fits in.
Bukayo Saka – The Arsenal winger had yet another outstanding season at the club and is set to start for his national team off the right.
Harry Kane – Is there really any surprise about this? Kane has been a talismanic figure for Bayern Munich this season and he will be one of the favourites to claim the Golden Boot for the tournament.
