Players from Tottenham Hotspur and Everton will be looking to feature for England in their up and coming Euro 2020 qualifiers.
England will take to Wembley on Friday night to host the Czech Republic in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier. Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane could start, along with Everton’s Jordan Pickford and Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson.
There have been a number of withdrawals because of injuries, so it remains to be seen who will get the nod to take to the field from the get-go.
Attacking duo Jadon Sancho and Raheem Sterling could start on the flanks, especially with Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford [The Mirror] returning to Old Trafford because of an injury.
In the middle of the park, West Ham United youngster Declan Rice will be looking to earn his first Three Lions cap. But, Gareth Southgate might stick with the experience of Henderson to play that number six role, with Ross Barkley and Dele Alli in front of him.
In defence, Southgate might go with a centre-back pairing of Harry Maguire and James Tarkowski, with the injury to John Stones [BBC Sport] giving someone else a chance to prove their worth at the heart of England’s defence.
Tottenham trio Eric Dier, Kieran Trippier and Danny Rose could find themselves starting on the bench, with the London club providing the most English players out of any team.
A lot has been made of who will start in goal, but sticking with Toffees shot-stopper Pickford could me the smart move by Southgate as England aim to start off their Euro 2020 campaign in fine style.
