He has been England’s undisputed number one for nearly a decade, but a new fan poll has finally settled the score on how the public views Jordan Pickford.

Jordan Pickford has officially entered the history books, matching Peter Shilton’s legendary record of 17 World Cup appearances during England’s win over Mexico.

Despite enduring a career of relentless online scrutiny, the Everton shot-stopper remains Thomas Tuchel’s undisputed number one, proving that consistency always outlives the critics.

With Marc Guehi a doubt for England vs Norway, is it time to start big Dan Burn? 👀

He has back-pocketed him almost every time so far…

And it doesn’t stop there, as Pickford will become England’s all-time World Cup appearance holder if he starts vs Norway as expected.

England have conceded five goals in five games so far at the 2026 World Cup, and Pickford did come under criticism for DR Congo’s goal, as he was beaten at his near post.

England fans vote Jordan Pickford as second best ever goalkeeper

Matching historic records reignites the ultimate debate: does Jordan Pickford’s modern tournament consistency overshadow legendary icons like Gordon Banks and Peter Shilton as England’s greatest?

Well, fans have been voting in a Sky Sports poll and the findings are fascinating.

England fans have voted Pickford as the Three Lions’ second-best ever goalkeeper with 32% of the vote, coming above Peter Shilton but behind Gordon Banks, who got 54%.

Gordon Banks has the actual silverware from 1966, Peter Shilton boasts a mountain of 125 total international caps, but we shouldn’t underestimate what Pickford has done for England.

Another poll was also put up on X asking, “Would a World Cup win make Pickford England’s best ever keeper?”

At the time of writing this, the vote currently sits at 59.5% yes and 40.5% no.
