Liverpool and England midfielder Jordan Henderson produced an excellent performance despite England losing 2-1 to Uruguay.
Joe Hart 5 – Didn’t seem to command the penalty area very well on set pieces and could have done better for Suarez’s second goal.
Glen Johnson 6 – Had a pretty poor game until the assist he delivered for Rooney’s goal. Seemed to just hoof it forward when he panicked.
Gary Cahill 7 – Looked solid and clear cut, commanded the defence well other than Suarez’s second.
Phil Jagielka 6 – Looked nervous at times and nearly lost the ball to Suarez in the first-half trying to be clever.
Leighton Baines 7 – Failed to make an impact in the first half, but moved up two gears in the second to cause all sorts of trouble for the Uruguayan defence.
Jordan Henderson 8 – Had a decent game, defended well, passed well and looked calm under pressure. Promising for the young lad.
Steven Gerrard 5 – Genuinely looked past it, poor shots and set pieces. His mistimed header let in Suarez for the winner.
Raheem Sterling 6 – Couldn’t quite make the same impact as he did against Italy, almost tried to do too much at times.
Wayne Rooney 7 – As well as he played scoring a goal, you can’t excuse the fact he still could’ve had an extra two goals tonight.
Danny Welbeck 7 – Played the wing role well, got in behind the defence lots and tracked back too.
Daniel Sturridge 7 – His passing was dreadful, but in the last 20 minutes showed his class and had a big hand in the equaliser.
SUBS
Barkley 6 – Made a bit of an impact but tried too many one dimensional runs.
Lallana 6 – Showed how good he is but just didn’t have the time.
Lambert – N/A
