However, the Spurs man did not take much acclaim after the match on social media, with many England supporters failing to be impressed with his showing.
The Three Lions drew 1-1 with Italy, with Dier having to play in both central midfield and central defence during the contest.
But the Tottenham man’s versatility did not earn him much credit, with many England fans suggesting he was not up to scratch.
Despite the reviews on his display last night, Dier looks almost certain to go to the World Cup.
The Tottenham man is in a battle with Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson for a space in Gareth Southgate’s starting line-up in Russia.
Dier’s focus will now return to Spurs matters, with Mauricio Pochettino’s side due to face Chelsea at the weekend.
