Kevin Campbell has suggested on the Highbury Squad Podcast that Arsenal should look at Barcelona’s ‘dynamite’ player Riqui Puig amid the talk about Martin Odegaard.

The Atheltic have claimed that Arsenal technical director has been in talks with Real Madrid about signing Odegaard since last week.

Since the news broke on Wednesday about Arsenal’s interest in Odegaard, it has got a lot of people talking.

Arsenal legend and Sky Sports pundit Campbell was unsure about Odegaard moving to North London, but he did suggest an upcoming Barcelona star, who has ‘energy to burn’.

“I have seen a lot of Odegaard,” said Campbell. “He was at Real Sociedad last season. He had a couple of seasons on loan there and done really well in a very good side.

“Gone back to Real Madrid and hasn’t quite hit the ground running or anything like that. He has played a few games. He’s an immensely talented kid.

“Again, I’m not sure the Premier League is for him. He could come in and he could smash it because he’s got that much talent. Or it might not work out.

“If we could try it then why not? Because he is a very good player. There’s him and there’s a kid called Riqui Puig at Barcelona. He is dynamite this kid. I am telling you. He’s very good. He could solve quite a lot of those midfield issues because he’s a ball-player with energy to burn.”

Arsenal’s record transfer deals

  1. Nicolas Pepe

    £72 million

  2. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

    £56 million

  3. Alexandre Lacazette

    £52 million

  4. Thomas Partey

    45 million

  5. Mesut Ozil

    £42 million

One thing is for sure, the current Arsenal youngsters have allowed those in the boardroom to spend more time in bringing that much-needed playmaker to the club.

If it wasn’t for their form, drive and energy then Arsenal would be heading towards the relegation zone.

But perhaps Arsenal’s problem solvers lie within and not from the transfer market because a certain Emile Smith-Rowe is deserving of a regular shot now.
