West Ham star Adrian admits he had never heard of new singing
West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian has admitted he had never heard of the club's £4.4 million signing Pedro Obiang, despite being from the same country.
Sampdoria
Formed in 1946 when Andrea Doria and Sampierdarenese merged, Genoa-based club Sampdoria were a mediocre top-flight team for years and spent periods in the 1960s and 70s in Serie B. Things changed in 1979 when President Paolo Mantovani took charge and built a team that included Gianluca Vialli and Roberto Mancini and won the 1991 Scudetto, 1990 European Cup Winners' Cup and four Coppa Italia trophies. Samp nearly won the European Cup but were beaten in extra-time by Barcelona in 1992. Mantovani's death hit Sampdoria hard and there have been spells in Serie B but they are back in the top flight these days.
