Fund manager Schroders said its assets under management rose to a record $452.5bn in the first quarter of 2014 after it took in new money across a range of products.

The Results Of The 'City Oscars'

Around 500 'leading City practitioners' had lunch at the Guildhall on Wednesday to hear the official results of the 31st Thomson Extel research Survey, which reflects the views of 1,037 buy-side firms, 151 brokerage firms and 298 of Europe's largest quoted companies. UBS once again took the lead award, the main 'City Oscar', with Merrill Lynch coming in second. The Key results are detailed below. 2003 results in brackets.

Collins Stewart and the Financial Times have settled their libel spat. The newspaper's owner, Pearson plc, agreed to pay $528,000 to settle a damages claim brought by the broker in conncetion with a series of articles published in August 2003 and related to allegations made by a former analyst at the firm.
