The history of Hellas Verona is dominated by one season - 1984-85: the year of the miracle. A relatively unheralded Verona side won their first and only Serie A title to date under Osvaldo Bagnoli with one of the defining moments coming when Danish striking star Preben Elkjaer scored in a 2-0 win against Juventus despite having lost his boot outside the box. The club's recent history has been less glorious with a spell in Serie C and several years in Serie B before they hauled their way back up.
