Paul Scholes has given his instant reaction to the news that Erik ten Hag will be remaining at Manchester United.
HITC have reported that Manchester United, following the club’s end of season review, have come to the conclusion that Erik ten Hag should be the man to lead the Red Devils into a new era.
With Ineos completing their 27 per cent takeover of United earlier this year, it was looking unlikely that Ten Hag would remain at Old Trafford due to the club finishing in eighth place in the Premier League.
The club can now focus on what promises to be a vital summer for the Red Devils as they simply have to be back in the Champions League in 2025.

Scholes reacts
Writing on his Instagram page, former United midfielder Paul Scholes, who had previously stated that the writing looked on the wall for the Dutchman after a 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace, has given his reaction.
“Nice to wake up to this news but I did think that Palace away was the end,” Scholes said. “Major improvements are needed but at least we have a bit of continuity and don’t have to wait for a new regime to settle in.
“Fans have given him and the players incredible support and deserve better next season.”
The FA Cup victory over Manchester City seemed to swing the pendulum of fan sentiment to support the Dutchman and he will now be rewarded with a new contract.
With just 12 months remaining on his current deal, Ten Hag couldn’t go into this season with just a year left on his contract.
Big summer ahead
A new striker, as well as a midfielder and a centre-back are reportedly the Red Devils’ biggest priority this summer.
This transfer window will represent the first under the Ineos ownership with Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his team attempting to bring in the best in class people for different facets of the club.
Many fans have preached that Ten Hag would do much better under a footballing structure, well he will get that chance next season.
