After missing out on the Premier League title, the Arsenal players will now focus on international matters.

Euro 2024 and the Copa America will take centre stage on the football calendar this summer and a number of high-profile Arsenal players are expected to play.

England are one of the favourites to win Euro 2024 in Germany, after losing out to Italy in the final last time out – Jorginho will be looking to defend his nation’s crown, but Bukayo Saka will have other ideas.

On the other side of the world, Gabriel Magalhaes, after a strong season at Arsenal, will be hoping to win a first major trophy for Brazil in over two decades.

These players are fit and firing, so they will have no issues with playing at their highest level because they have been regulars this term.

Gareth Southgate recently named his training squad for Euro 2024 and it got a lot of people talking.

Whilst the exclusion of Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford was a talking point, Southgate also selected Aaron Ramsdale, despite his little game time at the Emirates this term.

Throughout the campaign, the £30 million signing has only played 990 minutes of football and now he has been selected as England’s back-up keeper ahead of the Euros.

Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford is the main man, but Paul Merson stated that Ramsdale’s situation is a ‘big worry’, as he told Sky Sports News (21/05/24 at 1:40 pm).

“Pickford never lets England or Gareth Southgate down,” said Merson. “The thing with Pickford is that Pope has been injured a long time and Ramsdale is number two for Arsenal now, so they are the ones who you looked to in being a threat to him at the start of the campaign.

On Ramsdale’s lack of game time: “It is a big worry. 100%. He hasn’t had a lot of game time. Being a goalkeeper has to be the hardest. One mistake. You can miss an open goal as a centre-forward and you might still get another four chances before the end of the game, but as a goalkeeper, it’s completely out of your hands.

“I think Gareth will be hoping Pickford stays fit. As I say, he has never let England down.”

Should Aaron Ramsdale leave Arsenal?

The simple answer is yes. Mikel Arteta has made his call. Agree or disagree. Ruthless or unfair. Ramsdale clearly won’t be number one again.

A player of his calibre and experience simply can’t afford to be sitting on the bench, especially if he has aspirations to dethrone Pickford as England’s main keeper.

Sources have told HITC that Eddie Howe wants Ramsdale at Newcastle.

Ironically enough, they have Nick Pope as their main guy. He returned from injury during these past few weeks, but was still snubbed by Southgate ahead of the Euros.

Whether it’s Newcastle or elsewhere, Ramsdale can join a team pushing for Europe, he just needs to make the right call and leave Arsenal.
