Celtic have done what they do best and that’s become Scottish Premiership champions once again.

On Saturday, the celebrations were underway when they beat St Mirren 3-2 at Parkhead to lift the trophy and enjoy another glorious day with the supporters.

There is the small matter of the Scottish Cup final to deal with next week – and Brendan Rodgers will be very keen to get another one over on Rangers.

Chris Sutton put it perfectly, Celtic have ‘performed in halves this season’, but when it has mattered most, they have been ‘exceptional’ and the proof is these last few weeks.

When certain people thought Rangers would knock the door down, the Bhoys got the job done, got over the line and ensured the dominance continued, with Jeremie Frimpong among others sharing their congratulations.

One man who has helped Celtic with that is January signing Adam Idah.

The Republic of Ireland international joined on a loan deal from Norwich City when the mood wasn’t exactly pleasant in camp and the fans were a little downbeat.

But as Sutton expressed, he has been a ‘very smart’ signing for the club and a definite game-changer in the club’s title win, as he told Sky Sports (18/05/24 at 11:40 am).

From his late winner at Hibernian to his goal at Ibrox, it was the right call to bring him in and he was given his flowers for his performances.

The 23-year-old has scored seven goals and supplied two assists from ten Premiership games and remember, not all of these are starts, and this is without pre-season and a real sharpness to his game.

Adam Idah’s impact at Celtic

“They didn’t start brilliantly,” said Sutton. “But, eventually, they got the game going. I think, in the last month, they have been exceptional with the way they have played.

“Even the other night at Kilmarnock. He made the change. Adam Idah up top. And that was as good as a performance I have seen on a terrible pitch. But in the last few weeks, Celtic have been dominant. We expected to see it earlier under Brendan Rodgers and they are over the line now.

“Adam Idah has proved to be a really smart piece of business. You are right to say Celtic have performed in halves this season. There wasn’t the consistency earlier on in the season. But it’s about getting over the line.”

Should Celtic sign Adam Idah from Norwich City?

As of this moment, Idah will prepare for the cup final against Rangers and then he is expected to return to his parent club.

Norwich themselves will be playing in England’s second tier next season after they lost the Championship play-off semi-final to Leeds United.

They proceeded to sack manager David Wagner, so it can have huge implications on what does or doesn’t happen to Idah.

Could Celtic get a deal done before Norwich bring in a new face? Or will that new manager arrive and want Idah as part of his plans?

Either way, you feel playing for Celtic next season, including Champions League football, would be ideal and smart for all parties involved.
