Premier League giants Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool have watched Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen during a fine breakthrough season for the Denmark shot-stopper.
EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Some of Europe’s biggest clubs are expected to be in the market for a goalkeeper this summer, and HITC understands that the Villarreal academy graduate is emerging as a man in high demand.
We have been informed that Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool are all keeping tabs on Filip Jorgensen, who was born in Sweden but switched his allegience to Scandinavian neighbours Denmark back in 2021.
Arsenal have a decision to make about the future of Aaron Ramsdale, who has lost his place to David Raya under Mikel Arteta. Liverpool number two Caoimhin Kelleher, we reported recently, is Celtic’s number one target to replace the retiring Joe Hart.
Man City, meanwhile, are also in for a shot-stopper with the future of Stefan Ortega – who started the 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals – uncertain.
Pep Guardiola’s side are also keen on Roma’s Mile Svilar.
English giants eye Filip Jorgensen

Jorgensen, at just 21, is rapidly establishing himself as one of the most talented young glovesmen in Europe. The 6ft 3ins giant only made his first-team debut in January 2023 but is firmly Villarreal’s number one these days.
Marcelino Garcia Toral’s side are under no illusions that they have a potentially special talent at their disposal. Understandably, Villarreal are now ready to reward his rapid progress, potentially with a contract extension.
His current deal expires in 2027.
Newcastle and Wolves also in pursuit
Jorgensen also has admirers at Newcastle United. Eddie Howe’s side are weighing up whether to move on from Martin Dubravka, and will lose Loris Karius on a free transfer this summer.
“Of course, it would be a great solution if there were good options for me (in Italy),” Karius tells Gazzetta dello Sport. “I have always followed Serie A and it intrigues me a lot.
“I want to go back to being a number one like I always have been, except for the last two years,” adds Karius, who unfortunately will always be remembered for that Champions League final. “When I play, I do well. And I know I have enough quality to perform at the highest levels again.”
Wolverhampton Wanderers have scouted the former Malmo and Real Mallorca starlet too.
Jose Sa, beaten by a James Ward-Prowse corner during last week’s defeat to West Ham United, has found consistent form hard to come by under Gary O’Neil with his distribution, in particular, coming in for criticism.
Jorgensen, per Squawka, has made the most saves in La Liga this term with 118. A tally which highlights not only Villarreal’s vulnerabilities, but also his own stellar reflexes.
