Only a few months remain before this Liverpool and Manchester City rivalry comes to an end.

Jurgen Klopp will depart in the summer and end his long battle with Pep Guardiola, with both teams producing some of the best football and players of the last 30 years.

Some players, such as Phil Foden, have won it all, but are nowhere near the peak of their powers, so it’s scary to think what the Manchester City superstar will still produce as he continues to write his name into the club’s legendary books.

On the other hand, Mohamed Salah is a bonafide Liverpool legend and one of the best ever to do it for the club.

Sources have told HITC that the Saudi Pro League are readying their move for the 31-year-old this summer, who has won it all on the domestic stage and has 156 Premier League goals to his name.

But Wayne Rooney thinks Salah ‘doesn’t get the credit he deserves’ despite the career he has had, as he told Premier League Productions (07/04/24 at 2:50 pm).

The Manchester United legend added that, someone like Foden, will take close to ‘ten years’ to reach and hit the numbers the Egypt star has delivered.

Salah has scored 209 goals in all competitions for the Reds and supplied 88 assists from 340 games.

On the other hand, Foden has 81 goals and 51 assists from his 261 matches.

Mohamed Salah and Phil Foden

“He’s (Salah) such an incredible player,” said Rooney. “I still don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. Of course, for some Liverpool fans, he is right up there.

“You are seeing different players getting recognition, such as de Bruyne. But what he has been doing for the last three or four years is incredible. The numbers he keeps producing.

“He’s such a top world-class player, unfortunately, he is playing at Liverpool. He is somebody that I really enjoy watching. He is a player, who at times in games, you feel like he isn’t interested in the game, but they are always the most dangerous players. You almost forget about them, at times, and then, all of a sudden, he comes to life and changes the game.

“I just don’t think he gets the credit he deserves. You look at Phil Foden, for instance, playing in a similar role, he has got another eight, nine and ten years to get to the numbers Mo Salah has. I would like to see him get more credit.”

Will Mohamed Salah leave Liverpool?

This talk of Saudi just won’t go away and it will be really worrying for the Liverpool fans.

To lose Klopp and Salah in one summer is going to be a body blow of the highest order and one that would take a lot to recover from.

But, at the end of the day, money talks, the club isn’t about just one player and you will have to move on at some point.

With Michael Edwards returning to Liverpool, the fans will know they are in safe hands because he understands what it takes to build a title-winning team.
